Endpoint pricing

ContextFetch sells prepaid credits: 1 credit is one search with page Markdown, highlights and pruned context included, so 1,000 searches cost $1.00 ($0.75 on the $150 pack). Credits never expire and there is no subscription. Agents can start with no key: 25 requests per IP per day are free.

How credits work

One credit costs $0.001 at the Instant rate. Every response reports what it cost in costDollars.total, and paid requests that end in an error are refunded.

Auto-reload

Agents that never run dry, with a hard cap

Optional on any pack. Switch it on above before you buy, or later from the success page or the API.

  1. 01

    Threshold

When a call leaves the balance below 1,000 credits (you choose 100 to 100,000), the card saved at checkout buys your reload pack once.

  2. 02

    Monthly cap

Reloads stop when this UTC month's spend plus the pack price would pass your cap (default $500). The API can lower it but never raise it above $500.

  3. 03

    Fails safe

A declined payment turns auto-reload off and the balance endpoint reports the reason in last_error. Credits arrive only when a payment succeeds.

  4. 04

    Agent controls

GET /v1/balance and POST /v1/billing/auto-reload, also as the MCP tools contextfetch_balance and contextfetch_auto_reload.

Check a balance

Paste a key to see its credits, auto-reload state and daily burn rate. Agents can call GET /v1/balance instead.

Questions

Do credits expire?

No. Packs are one-time payments and the credits never expire. Instant is $15 for 15,000 credits.

Is there a subscription?

No. You buy a pack when you need one. Auto-reload is optional and off by default; when you turn it on, it buys a pack only when your balance runs low, never more than your monthly cap.

What does one credit buy?

One search with up to 25 results, with page Markdown, highlights and pruned context included. Contents costs 1 credit per page that loads, and the Reader 1 credit per page.

Can I try it without paying?

Yes. Send no key and you get 25 requests per IP per UTC day, through the API, the playground or the MCP server. Failed keyless requests still count.

What happens when my credits run out?

The API answers HTTP 402 with an X-Payment-URL header and a JSON body that lists the packs and a one-click payment link. The MCP tools return the same link instead of failing, so your agent can show it to you.

Am I charged for failed requests?

Paid requests that end in an error are refunded, and Contents bills only pages that load. Cache hits are charged like live calls.

How do I pay, and where is my key?

A buy link opens Stripe Checkout in one click (card, Apple Pay or Google Pay). The success page shows your key and copies it to the clipboard. We store only its SHA-256 hash.

Are there rate limits on paid keys?

No per-second or per-minute limit: a paid key is limited only by its credits. Keyless calls are limited to the daily allowance.

Give your agent the web

25 free requests a day, no key. $1.00 per 1,000 after that.
