Terms of service

Plain terms for a pay-as-you-go API. By calling the ContextFetch API or buying credits, you agree to them.

Last updated 17 October 2026

1. The service

ContextFetch is a web search and page-content API for AI agents, offered through HTTP endpoints, a Tavily-compatible endpoint and an MCP server. Results contain text from third-party websites that we fetch and process automatically.

2. Free tier

Requests without an API key are free up to 25 per IP address per UTC day (IPv6 addresses are counted per /64). Failed keyless requests count too. We may change or pause the free tier, for example to stop abuse.

3. Credits and billing

  • Credits are prepaid with a one-time payment. Packs: Instant, $15 for 15,000 credits; Builder, $50 for 60,000 credits; Scale, $150 for 200,000 credits. There is no subscription.
  • Credits never expire. They stay on your key until you use them.
  • One credit pays for one search, one find-similar request, one Tavily-compatible search, one Reader page or one MCP deep-research sub-query. Contents costs one credit per page that loads, up to 10 pages per request. A cached answer costs the same as a live one.
  • Every response reports its cost. A paid request that ends in an error is refunded to your balance automatically, and pages that fail to load are not charged.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are in US dollars; at the base rate one credit is worth $0.001.

4. Auto-reload

Auto-reload is off unless you turn it on at checkout or on the success page. When it is on, we charge your saved card for the pack you chose each time your balance drops below your threshold (default 1,000 credits), never above your monthly cap (default $500). Through the API a key can turn auto-reload off or lower its settings, but cannot raise the cap above $500. A declined payment turns auto-reload off. You can turn it off at any time through the API or by emailing support@contextfetch.dev.

5. Refunds

If something went wrong with a purchase or you want a refund, email support@contextfetch.dev with your Stripe receipt or the email address you used at checkout. We look at every request and refund approved amounts to the original payment method through Stripe.

6. Your API key

Keep your key secret: anyone who has it can spend its credits. We store only a hash of it, so we cannot show it to you again after the 24 hours the checkout success page keeps it. If a key is lost or leaked, email support@contextfetch.dev and we will help.

7. Acceptable use

Do not use ContextFetch to:

  • break the law, or infringe other people's rights, including copyright and privacy;
  • get around the free-tier limit, for example by rotating IP addresses;
  • attack, overload or probe the service, or try to reach non-public addresses through it;
  • collect personal data about people at scale, or send spam;
  • resell raw access to the API as a competing search API without our written agreement.

We may suspend keys or block addresses that break these rules. If we suspend a paid key for a reason other than a clear breach, we will refund its unused credits.

8. Content in results

Results are excerpts of third-party pages and belong to their owners. You are responsible for how you use them, including following those sites' terms. Our own code examples and documentation may be copied freely.

9. No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. Search results can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and we do not guarantee any level of availability or latency. There is no service-level agreement.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it arose.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. Changes never take away credits you have already bought.
